Oscars ( Academy Awards )

The Academy Awards or The Oscars is an annual American awards ceremony honoring cinematic achievements in the film industry. The various category winners are awarded a copy of a statuette, officially the Academy Award of Merit, which is better known by its nickname Oscar. The awards, first presented in 1929 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, are overseen by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).

The Oscars is the oldest entertainment awards ceremony; its equivalents, the Emmy Awards for television, the Tony Awards for theatre, and the Grammy Awards for music and recording, are modeled after the Academy Awards. The Academy Awards are widely considered to be the most prestigious cinema awards ceremony in the world.

Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards

The Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards  is a film festival and awards ceremony held annually in Taiwan. It was founded in 1962 by the Government Information Office of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The awards ceremony is usually held in November or December in Taipei, though the venue has been shifted around the country in recent times.

In May 1962, the Government Information Office of the Republic of China (ROC) enacted the “Mandarin Film Award Regulation of Year 1962” to officially found the Golden Horse Awards. The name Golden Horse comes from the islands of Kinmen and Matsu , which are under ROC control.

The awards ceremony was established to boost the industry of making Chinese films, award the good Chinese movies and good moviemakers. It is one of the most honorable awards in the movie industry in Asia. It has been helping the development of movies in Chinese as it provides great support and encouragement to the filmmakers. Moreover, it intends to introduce excellent films to Taiwanese audience from around the world to stimulate exchange of ideas and inspire creativity.

in Indonesia we have Festival Film Indonesia ( FFI ) and Indonesia Movie Awards ( IMA ) for  Indonesian awards ceremony honoring cinematic achievements in the film industry.

Festival Film Indonesia ( FFI )

Indonesian Film Festival (FFI) is the highest award event for the film industry in Indonesia. FFI was first held in 1955 and continued in 1960 and 1967 (under the name  Pekan Apresiasi Film Nasional), before finally began to be held regularly in 1973.

Began implementation in 1979, the system of seed (Nomination) began to be used. FFI was stopped in 1992, and has held back in 2004. In its development, given also Vidia Cup award for a television movie.

Citra Awards are accolades by the Committee to recognize excellence of professionals in the Indonesian film industry, including directors, actors, and writers.

Starting from 2009, Indonesian Film Festival Committee replaced the National Body of Motion Picture as the official event organizer of Indonesian Film Festival. The Committee also have been authorized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Indonesia to organize the operational process of Citra Awards' ceremony and the selection (voting) of nominations and winners.

Since 2014, Indonesian Film Board replaced Indonesian Film Festival Committee as the organized of Indonesian Film Festival. The organizer also accompanied by Deloitte as the auditing firm and Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia.

Citra Award often mistakenly called as FFI Award. FFI (Indonesian Film Festival) is the title of the event where the Citra Award and Vidia Award winners announced.

Indonesian Movie Awards ( IMA )

Indonesian Movie Awards (IMA) is the appreciation for cinema person/production works that began in 2007. These awards are made because the result of FFI 2006 was quite disappointing for the Masyarakat Film Indonesia (MFI) (En: Film Society of Indonesia). But the IMA made not to compete with FFI. IMA exists to give appreciation to the best film cast, because they have the talent and achievements.

 IMA each year will always be present with the new format and different from FFI. If the FFI trophy that given is called Piala Citra. On IMA, the trophy given is called Piala Layar Emas. Winner in this event consists of Favorite and Best. Where the Best winner for the category selected by a jury. While the category of Favorite winner is selected by the public.
